Cada 2 o 3 años ITI organiza, en colaboración con un Centro ITI y una ciudad elegida, un evento principal: el Congreso Mundial ITI. Es una reunión de miembros de ITI de todos los continentes. El Congreso Mundial ITI tiene cuatro partes:

1) La parte artística con actuaciones (locales e internacionales), proyectos de colaboración internacional 2) La parte educativa con presentaciones, talleres, clases magistrales, seminarios, conferencias, mesas redondas, etc. 3) La parte humanística con talleres y presentaciones, y proyectos comunitarios 4) La parte estatutaria con la Asamblea General, las reuniones de los comités, las redes, los foros y los grupos de proyectos.

Desde su creación, se han celebrado 35 Congresos Mundiales ITI. El último fue presentado por el Spanish Centre en Segovia, España, en 2017.

The International Theatre Institute ITI is pleased to announce that the 36th ITI World Congress will happen onsite from 20-25 February 2023 in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. The event will be hosted and co-organized by the Fujairah Government, with the support from H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah and the Supreme Council Member of UAE, and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. The 36th ITI World Congress will be under the patronage of UNESCO.

The theme of the 36th ITI World Congress:
“Reunite, for the Performing Arts and Humanism”.
